Let us prepare our hearts and minds for worship.
Prelude in Classic Style by Gordon Young
(If you like any of the music I have chosen for you here and want to hear me play it, I encourage you to request it when we are officially back. ~Tony)
We may not be physically together this morning, but we are united in Christ.
Let us worship the Lord.
Almighty God, everything seems different this week. Remind us all of the things that do not change. You, God, are with us. You love us. You will not abandon us. We gather in different ways this morning, but still we worship You. Our fear and anxiety might be a little higher than normal, but still we trust in You. Much is different, but much remains the same. May our worship this morning be pleasing to You and uplifting to our souls. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Offertory – The Summons
We do not have online giving approved and functioning yet, but we are working on it.
To continue the work of the church we are still dependent upon your gifts and offerings.
Even in these challenging times, please continue to be generous in all areas of life. For now, if you would like to support the ministry of WHPC, you could mail a check to the church office. Unless otherwise specified, such gifts will be counted the same as a gift in the offering plate.
(adapted slightly from Book of Common Worship: Daily Prayer, Morning Prayer, Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession, for Sunday)
Mighty God of mercy,
we thank you for the resurrection dawn bringing the glory of our risen Lord who makes every day new. Especially we thank you for
the beauty of your creation ...
the new creation in Christ and all gifts of healing and forgiveness ...
the sustaining love of family and friends ...
the fellowship of faith in your church. ...
Merciful God of might, renew this weary world, heal the hurts of all your children, and bring about your peace for all in Christ Jesus, the living Lord. Especially we pray for
those who govern nations of the world ...
the people in countries ravaged by strife or warfare ...
all who work for peace and international harmony ...
all who strive to save the earth from destruction ...
the church of Jesus Christ in every land. ...
Eternal God, our beginning and our end, be our starting point and our haven, and accompany us in this day’s journey. Use our hands to do the work of your creation, and use our lives to bring others the new life you give this world in Jesus Christ, Redeemer of all, who taught us to pray saying:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory, forever.
Go now in the grace, mercy, and peace of God, the Father
the love of Jesus Christ, His one and only Son
and the fellowship of His Holy Spirit
both now and forever
Make Me a Blessing
